Welcome

Three girls
from Bend cut the ribbon to officially open the
Rotary Centennial Playground on July 1, 2005.
THE PROJECT
The Rotary Centennial Playground
is located at
Larkspur Park, adjacent to the Bend
Senior Center in Bend (OR, USA). It was designed for
use by ALL children so that all children can play together with
their family and friends. The park has amenities
that make it accessible by children with special needs and
parents who have special needs. It features access and
ground cover that is ADA recommended.
THE COMMITMENT
All four of the Bend Rotary Clubs; (Bend,
Bend
High Desert,
Bend-Mt.
Bachelor, and
Greater Bend)
were involved in this Rotary Centennial Playground project. The 350 members of these
four clubs pledged both time and money including 16 hours of volunteer labor per Rotarian and funds in excess of $150,000 to
launch this very worthwhile endeavor.
The 2005 dedication date
played a significant role in naming the project the Rotary
Centennial Playground. In 2005, Rotary celebrated
its 100th anniversary and it was also the centennial year for the
City of Bend.
